Kanopy

Kanopy offers over 30,000 high-quality films and documentaries from art-house classics to world cinema from producers such as The Great Courses, PBS, the Criterion Channel, and many more, all available to play on your PC, phone, tablet and digital media player.

New: Each month, SCPL cardholders are given 30 tickets to spend on watching their favourite videos. The running time of a title impacts the number of tickets required to watch the video and the amount of time you have to watch the video. Titles may require up to 5 tickets.

For family-friendly movies and TV series, check out Kanopy Kids. Kanopy Kids does not require tickets.

Kanopy Kids
Stream a selection of educational and enriching videos on Kanopy Kids with developmentally appropriate, age-based ratings from Common Sense Media, as well as additional parental controls. Kanopy Kids categories include TV Series, Learning Languages, Animated Storybooks, Anime Favourites, Classic Films and Movies for the Whole Family.

LinkedIn Learning for Library (formerly Lynda.com)
LinkedIn Learning for Library is an upgrade to the previous Lynda Library product, providing continued lifelong learning opportunities.

Library users will now have access to engaging content, with over 16,000 courses in 7 different languages. The login process only requires a library card number and PIN, without the need for a LinkedIn profile, and the interface is intuitive, updated and easy-to-use. Previous course history from Lynda.com is retained and, once a course is complete, users receive a certificate that can be added to a personal LinkedIn profile.

Local Names Index
This online index contains records for births, marriages, deaths, adoptions, anniversaries, birthdays, engagements, etc… Records available online from July 2005 – present. Older entries may be found in the Special Collections department on the second floor of the Central Library.

Maclean’s Magazine Archive offers access to every story and every issue from 1905 to 2015. This searchable database contains indexing, abstracting and full text PDFs of this influential Canadian magazine. Current print issues are available in the Library's collection.
