When you register for programs or services at the St. Catharines Public Library collects the personal information you provide only when voluntarily submitted in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA). This information will be used to: 

  • process your registration in programs and services of your choosing or for further information;
  • communicate with you regarding services or products that you have requested - for example, to send you a statement, a receipt, or feedback survey;
  • identify you if you have a query or concern about the program or service that you have requested;
  • advise you about changes to our web service offerings and of service interruptions; and
  • meet legal and regulatory requirements.

Program Waiver

By registering for a program or attending a drop-in program at St. Catharines Public Library, you agree to the following:

I, being either the participant(s) named on this registration or the parent or guardian of the participant(s), acknowledge and agree that there may be inherent risks associated with participating in the program or activity or lesson being registered (the “Program”), including all manners of injury, the failure of equipment and the carelessness of other participants and misjudgments on the part of Library or City staff or contractors. In consideration of the St. Catharines Public Library’s (“SCPL’s”) acceptance of my application and my/my child’s participation in the Program, I, on behalf of myself/my child(ren) and my/our other heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators and assigns acknowledge and agree that I: (a) represent that I and/or my child(ren) is(are) in good and fit condition to participate in the Program that I/he/she may take part in and have/has no known health conditions which would restrict or limit my/his/her ability to safely participate in the Program; (b) willingly comply with the stated and customary terms and conditions for participation in the Program and any location where the Program may be held, including facilities owned or operated by the St. Catharines Public Library Board and The Corporation of the City of St. Catharines (the “City”) such as libraries, pools, parks and community centres or other sites owned by third parties and further that, should I observe any unusual significant hazard during my/my child’s participation, I will remove myself/my child from participation; (c) willingly and freely assume all such risks, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of SCPL or the City , their elected officials, directors, officers, employees, contractors, volunteers and agents (collectively the “Releasees”) or the intentional acts or omissions of others; (d) understand that it is my responsibility to inspect and keep myself aware of hazards in the area that could have an effect on the safety of myself/my child(ren) and/or safety of others and that it is my responsibility to make my child(ren) aware of any hazards or conditions which may affect his/her safety or the safety of others; (e) waive all claims that I/my child(ren) may have or may have in the future against the SCPL or the City and release and forever discharge the Releasees from all liability for any personal injury, death, property damage, or other loss and liabilities of whatsoever nature or kind arising out of or in any way connected with my/my child’s(ren’s) participation in the Program. I further agree that I will refrain from making any claims or take any proceedings on behalf of myself/my child against any person or corporation who or which might claim contribution and indemnity or relief from the Releasees. I confirm that I have read and understand each item of this waiver and consent in its entirety, and, be completing registration for the Program, agree to be bound by its terms freely and voluntarily as of the date of registration.
