Books To Go is a mini-library kiosk located in the main entrance of the Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre. It is accessible during Seymour-Hannah’s open hours.

In order to borrow items, you must be 12 years and older, have a valid St. Catharines Public Library card and know your PIN, typically the last 4 digits of your phone number.

How does Books to Go work?

  1. Scan your library card and enter your PIN to unlock the kiosk door.
  2. Open the door and select the items you wish to borrow.
  3. When you close the door, the items will be signed out to your account automatically.
  4. A receipt will be printed or e-mailed to you listing the items borrowed depending on the preference setting in your account.
  5. Returning items is as simple as scanning your card, opening the door and placing the items back on the shelf.

How long can the items be borrowed?

  • Items can be borrowed for 21 days.

How do I know when the items must be returned?

  • Books to Go will provide a receipt on paper or via email, listing the due dates for each item.

How many items can I borrow?

  • We suggest a limit of 5 items at a time.

Where should I return Books to Go items?

  • Items borrowed from Books to Go should be returned to the Books to Go cabinet. They can also be returned to any of our 4 library locations in the city.

Can I return items that I have borrowed from other Library locations to Books to Go @ Seymour-Hannah?

  • No. Those items should be returned to any of our 4 library locations.

What happens if I don’t return the items on time?

  • Late return charges accrue for each day items are overdue. Items in Books to Go are $0.20 per item per day late. If charges reach $10, you will need to make a payment to borrow more items. Payments can be made at any SCPL location.

Holds to Go

Holds to Go is a new service which allows St. Catharines Public Library users to request items from the Library’s online catalogue and have them sent to the self-service holds locker(s) for pick up. In order to place and pick up holds you will need a valid SCPL Library card and PIN, typically the last 4 digits of your phone number.

  4. When you close the locker, the items will be signed out to your account automatically.
  5. A receipt will be printed or e-mailed to you with a list of the items borrowed.

  • Holds will stay in the locker for 7 days. Your holds notification lists the date by which your items need to be picked up.

Can I return holds to the Holds to Go kiosk?

  • Yes. Holds may be returned to the Holds to Go return bin, or to any of our 4 Library locations.

What if I scan my card and the locker doesn’t open?

  • There may be a problem with your account or the lockers. Call 905-688-6103, ext. 210.
