Get help filing your 2025 taxes

Registration is now open for our Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) in partnership with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Every year, the St. Catharines Public Library is proud to host CVITP tax clinics to help community members file their income tax and benefit returns and receive the benefits and credits they’re entitled to.

CVITP tax clinics are free of charge to anyone who is eligible for the program.

Are you eligible for tax support at SCPL?

The clinics are for anyone with a modest income and simple tax situation. Unfortunately, CVITP volunteers are unable to file returns for individuals who:

  • are attempting to file taxes for previous years
  • are completing a tax return for a deceased person
  • are self-employed
  • have rental income/expenses
  • have capital gains/losses
  • have foreign property
  • have filed for bankruptcy and are currently bankrupt

Tax clinics are offered by appointment only at the Central Library, Dr. Huq Family Library Branch, and Merritt Branch throughout March and April. Please visit us or call us at 905-688-6103 to find out if you’re eligible for our tax clinics.

This program would not be possible without the support of our incredible CVITP volunteers. Thank you to our CVITP volunteers for dedicating their time and talents to this year’s tax clinic.
