Teen Review: A Wish for Us
It Takes Two
Video Game
A Wish For Us follows Cromwell Dean and Bonnie Farraday and their love story. Cromwell was a music prodigy who left the classical music community for upbeat electronic dance music, chasing the bright colours he saw. That was until Bonnie came into his life, she reignited his passion for classical music. Bonnie gave Cromwell new colours to see and experience. A Wish For Us is about music, love and loss. It is an experience of a book to read.
This novel has several strengths, the big one being how well written the novel was and the characters. The characters were well written and all had very developed personalities with lots of detail. The author was able to describe what it's like to watch a loved one suffer and fade away. The novel only has one weakness, it was a bit confusing in the beginning. There were parts that didn't quite make sense and it wasn't clear on what was happening. It did start to make sense as the book continued.
I really enjoyed this book. I liked how well Cromwell was written. A lot of thought was put into his character and his personality. I really liked how well Cromwell's synesthesia was described and talked about. One thing I disliked was the little part Bonnie's twin brother had, towards the end of the novel he had a bigger part and his past was told. I wish that it had talked more about it in the beginning, giving his character more depth throughout the novel.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Tillie Cole’s other novels: A Thousand Boy Kisses, A Thousand Broken Pieces. As well as anyone who enjoyed, If He Had Been With Me and If Only I Had Told Her. Overall I would recommend this book to anyone who has a love for music and enjoys books that will pull on heartstrings.
Overall I give this book 4 stars, I really enjoyed reading this novel.
