Merritt Relocation Project

About

The Merritt Branch, currently situated at 149 Hartzel Road, will be relocating to the Niagara Pen Centre at 221 Glendale Avenue. Due to occupancy costs and restrictions proposed in a new lease, we have been unable to reach an agreement with the landlord at the current location.

We are committed to our mission of providing spaces, resources, and experiences for all citizens to learn, grow, and connect. In our efforts to continue this work, we have identified the Niagara Pen Centre as the most viable space to meet the needs of the library and the community.

This new facility will offer approximately 9,700 square feet dedicated to our collection of borrowable items, diverse programming opportunities, and enhanced meeting and study spaces. In addition to ample free parking, the location is conveniently adjacent to the city’s second-largest public transit hub.

In addition to allowing us to still remain within Merritton, the new site will significantly improve access for customers in the Western Hill area, a neighbourhood that does not currently have a physical library branch.

As we work with the City and the Niagara Pen Centre to develop our new space, we are committed to keeping our community up-to-date on the project below.
